A Request for Proposal (RFP) is a document that indicates that HHSBD is shopping for a supplier but needs more information before buying. RFPs ask for pricing and many other details. The RFP will also provide deadlines and timelines that bidder will need to meet.
A Request for Information (RFI) is a document that indicates the HHSBD is in the market for a solution but not yet ready to proceed with purchasing. After receiving RFIs, the HHSBD will be better informed about possible solutions.
